Soursop, also called Graviola, is used to heal infections that are caused by parasites and bacteria as well as leishmaniasis, disease which is caused by parasites that are transferred thru the bite of sand fleas, coughs, herpes and cancer. Graviola often helps people to relax.
Graviola leaves have potent anti-cancer properties that are coming from phytochemicals into the plant.
Many studies are suggesting that this fruit may prevent and heal cancer. Adding graviola into patients diet stopped cancerous pancreatic tumor cells from duplicating, causing them to die. The leaves of the plant are also useful in the treatment of the skin cancer when used topically.
In the traditional medicine graviola leaves are used as cure for viral infections. In May 1998 an article was published in “The Journal of Ethnopharmacology” which says that the extracts that come from the leaves inhibited the herpes simplex virus.

According to a research made on mice’s – they were given burned paws extracts of leaves of graviola – supplementing with graviola leaves can reduce pain and swelling. On the other hand, more inquiries are necessary to define the efficacy and safety for human’s usage.
Possible Side Effects
DO NOT EAT THE FRUIT: Ingestion of the fruit can lead to movement disorders comparable to Parkinson’s disease, because of the components called alkaloids that are present in the plant. There is no well-known human dosage for use of graviola leaf that exists yet. Lasting usage or high-dose supplementation can cause harm to the myelin sheath, upsetting the normal function of the nerves.
Be sure to talk with your doctor before taking a supplement from graviola leaf or drinking soursop tea.
How to Make Soursop Tea
- Take 15-20 soursop dry leaves and 1 little stem, cut them in small pieces and place them in previously boiled 1l. of water.
- Remain to heat the water at the same time not closing the pot for 25-30min. The water should evaporate to 500ml.
- Drink 1 cup (170ml), 3-4 times a day. You can consume it cool, warm or hot but it must be previously well strained.
- You may add 1/2 tbsp. of lime juice and some honey- raw organic honey.
There will be no side effects after drinking. Your body may have sensation of heat, but that’s all. Consume it half an hour before eating. In just 2 weeks you will feel the welfare of soursop. After 4 weeks you can feel the improvement clearly.
